BRIDGEVIEW, IL — There's plenty to do in the south suburbs for July 4th weekend, as residents emerge from a year of staying home, face masks and social distancing. The Bridgeview Park District is planning an Independence Day spectacular July 3 at Commissioners Park, 8100 S. Beloit Ave., featuring live music, food trucks, professional wrestling and, of course, fireworks. The spectacular is FREE. Gates open at 4 p.m. Bridgeview's own Luke Repass Band takes the stage from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Then get ready for a smackdown at 7 p.m. when professional wrestlers from POWW Entertainment hit the mats for some exciting matchups, featuring headliners Scott Spade vs Chris Cairo. Food trucks will be parked all night selling their wares. Fireworks will be blown off around 9:15 p.m., which the park district proclaims to be the "best fireworks show around." You may want to get there early because parking is likely to fill up fast. Bring a face mask just in case, even if you're vaccinated. For more information, call 708-594-1818.
