NOVATO, CA — The city of Novato won't push back against ambitious state housing requirements, The Marin Independent Journal reports.
Marin's second largest city is required to build 2,090 homes by the Association of Bay Area Governments according to the report.
While other Main municipalities, including Mill Valley, San Anselmo and Sausalito, have chosen to appeal the mandate, Novato has chosen to go in a different direction.
City officials said such long shot efforts would waste staff time.
"I think Novato has always been a leader in housing in the rest of the county and I think this is an opportunity for us to continue to lead," Mayor Pro Tem Eric Lucan said, according to the report.
