Description

BERKELEY, CA — Berkeley residents are urged to renew their parking permits before they expire at the end of this month. Permits for 2021-2022 year that starts Thursday can be renewed online or in person. Existing permits expire Wednesday. Residents who don't renew their permits before Thursday will need to submit a new permit application that includes a photo ID and current vehicle registration information. Residents who had a 2021 permit should have received a renewal notice in the mail in April with instructions. Residents with existing permits who did not receive a notice should log onto their online account to renew their existing permit or apply for a new permit. Some residents may need to login using the link code that was mailed to them. Residents who lost the letter can call 311 or (510) 981-2489 to request your code. Residents who received renewal notices with incorrect information, such as listing the wrong RPP area, should use the portal to apply for a new permit online. Residents whose permits are labeled "suspended" in the online portal are asked to re-apply to re-verify residency. New online applications will be approved in five to seven business days. They will receive a confirmation receipt via email. Berkeley uses license plate numbers as permits, so residents will not receive a parking permit sticker. Berkeley parking enforcement officers have since 2016 used license plate readers. To renew permits online visit here. To renew in-person, download the application and take the completed forms with supporting documents to Berkeley's Customer Service Center at 1947 Center Street (1st floor) Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
