Description

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa man is facing burglary charges after police responded to a call in the 300 block of Meador Drive. Thomas Dewayne Long, 45, stands charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree burglary and could face additional charges following the incident. The Tuscaloosa Police Department said the call came in at 12:30 p.m Monday when two residents of the home heard someone kicking in their back door. TPD says the women called out, which may have scared the suspect into leaving, but not before one of the residents was able to snap a picture of the suspect's white, single-cab Silverado leaving from the back of the residence. The occupants then called 911 and the photo was distributed across the department. TPD went on to say seven minutes later, a patrol lieutenant spotted the truck and Long near the intersection of Hargrove Road and 10th Avenue. The officer attempted to pull the suspect over, but Long refused to stop, instead driving toward 21st Street. He eventually exited the truck around Short 20th Street and was taken into custody after a short foot chase. TPD said investigators were able to confirm Long as the burglary suspect after viewing surveillance video from near the victim's residence.
