Independent auto repair shop in SE Portland is looking for an entry level Welder / Shop Helper. We are looking for team player with a positive attitude and the desire to learn. Must be a self-motivated and diligent worker. On daily basis, candidate will be working in a production environment, performing shop duties that include using hand tools, grinders, sandblasting, operating machines, welding, etc. Duties include but are not limited to: - Run all kinds of welding machines and equipment such as plasma cutter, shear, brake, etc. - Use hand tools such as grinders - Process parts using finishing tools and equipment - Assist with occasional maintenance duties like equipment oil changes - Lift and maneuver heavy, sometimes odd shaped and sized, objects on a regular basis - Maintain a clean work environment - Any other duties as assigned Skills and Requirements: - Experience working with metal. Recognize characteristics of metal and alloys - Experience with hand tools and power tools - Ability to meet deadlines - Team oriented and work well with others - Must be able to work at fast pace, follow instructions and be self-motivated - Ability to lift and carry 50lbs or more - Able to stand for most of the day - Help out around the shop where needed We offer paid holidays, paid vacation, paid personal time, 401K retirement plan, health insurance, life insurance, and more.
