I’m an older keyboardist / arranger seeking a guitarist and bassist to form the rhythm section for an ambitious - and (hopefully) fun - new project. Goal: To be metro ATL’s tightest funk band. (Gotta aim high, right?) Be advised it will ultimately have a five-piece horn section. Here’s the “gimmick”: the source material is stuff already familiar to a wide demographic but which was not funky in its original incarnations. Aside from overall playing facility, being able to come up with groovin’ parts, a cooperative attitude and a warped sense of humor are highly desirable. Ditto back-up and/or lead vocal abilities. I don’t want this to be my band; I really would like to be part of a dedicated team effort. If interested, kindly tell me a little about yourself and what you want in a band. A sample of your funkiest playing (or a link to same) would also be greatly appreciated; I’ll respond with demos of some of the arrangements I’ve done.
