New BK Based EBike Company looking for Experiential Marketing Manager
Events
New York City NY
Description
The Brand Vela is an e-bike company, born in São Paulo, Brazil, and is now based in Brooklyn, NY. With eight years and $1m invested in R&D, Vela has developed a line of E-bikes focused on both form and function, shedding the traditional paradigm of how an E-bike should look and perform. Vela spent 2020 focusing on scaling up production to enter the much larger US and EU markets for the first time. Today’s supply chains are struggling to keep up as global market demand for E-bikes pushes all-time highs on a monthly basis, fueled by a combination of COVID 19, accelerated sustainable city planning, and e-bike market maturity. The E-bike market is now projected to surpass $46 billion in the next six years, a growth rate that has doubled from pre-pandemic predictions. With these changes, a new demographic of style-conscious, everyday riders have emerged, and Vela fills that market need with its line of design-forward, affordable e-bikes. We soft-launched in 2020 and are preparing to raise a SEED round in the Summer of 2021 as we fully launch. The Job As an Experiential Marketing Manager at Vela Bikes USA, you will lead the on-the-ground efforts of our marketing team in the streets of NYC. We’re looking for someone who can help us build out experiential marketing around the city and come up with creative ways to get in front of customers. In addition to offering some on-demand test rides to customers, we also want to find ways to show off the bikes in unique ways. Thinking... create a weekly scavenger hunt in the city on our IG for a discount code, hosting an event ride to test out the 3 best pizza places in the city, or reach out to a brewery/coffee shop/yoga studio to offer a unique discount if a customer rides any bike to their establishment but show off the Vela outside it; WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO... stand outside wholefoods handing out cards on Vela. We're really interested in someone who sees the potential in helping us build out the brand's on-the-ground presence in a unique manner. I.e. Warby Parker started a school bus tour around the country to show off their new glasses, Casper had a trailer with a bunch of beds to have people try out. We're starting in NYC this summer and want your help. This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door at a start-up and we'd certainly be interested in applicants that would want to grow as we do. Additional expectations: - Generate some IG stories and UGC (User Generated Content) around the city while you're running around the city, showing the bikes off, etc. Creativity, uniqueness, personality is appreciated. - Help us manage our growing IG community and promote our brand. We have a social media manager so we'd expect you to touch base with them on a weekly basis to plan events / engagement. - Participate in marketing strategize calls with our teams here in the US (LA and NYC) and Brazil. - You'll need to know how to ride a bike but being a bike "expert" is not required, we're a very approachable bike and we can teach you what you need to know pretty quickly. If you are savvy with a bike, that's much appreciated since sometimes you need to come up with on the fly solutions but not necessary, we have a shop currently servicing our bikes in NYC. - You would also receive a Vela (while actively employed) to use 24/7. the team is heavily focused in the NYC area and we are opening a store / office / coffee shop shortly that you'll be able to use as a home base. Time commitment: - Flexible 2-3 days per week schedules. 3-5 hours a day. Max of 10-15 hours a week.
