The Avalon Ballroom, 6185 Arapahoe Road, Boulder CO 80303 (Boulder County's Best Place to Dance), is hiring two individuals to serve as Event Chaperones for special events that take place in the building. These include nonprofit fundraisers, luncheons and daytime meetings, daytime or evening family parties (weddings, quinceaneras, bar and bat mitzvahs, etc.).
The work involves:
* Learning about the building, its systems, equipment, and rules
* Greeting renters when they come in to use the building and helping them with any questions during the event
* Supervising usage of our building and dance floors during the event
* Overseeing clean-up according to established standards
* Communicating with the Avalon manager about any problems that come up during the event
* Submitting a simple report (a few sentences via email) to the Avalon manager after each event
The ideal candidate will be:
* Bilingual in Spanish and English
* Friendly, approachable and helpful
* Organized and detail-conscious, dependable
* Flexible about working hours and job duties
* Able to work cooperatively with diverse clients and other Avalon staff
* Self-directed, able to think on her/his feet and solve problems, but also willing to ask for help
Work opportunities vary month by month depending on how many events take place that require Avalon supervision--there are not events every month. However, there are light maintenance and office chores that can add some hours in addition to working special events.
