Description

CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING* TRACK & FIELD* ROAD RACING The Prospect Park Youth Running Club was founded on the premise of sport education. Our staff is dedicated to offering quality instruction to the student-athletes joining our organization. The belief is that athletes who gain a strong understanding about proper distance training methods, injury prevention, rest and recovery, and mental preparation will be given a tremendous opportunity to succeed in cross country, track & field, and road racing. Our members will improve self-esteem and confidence through consistent effort and acknowledgement of improvement. Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Prospect Park Youth Running Club. I would like to share some important information with you to help in the decision making process. First, no experience is necessary for your child to join. Our coaches are well experienced, knowledgable, and willing to work with any child that is interested in learning. Our coaching staff is comprised of educators, professionals, and seasoned athletes. PPYRC is a registered 501c non-profit organization. All of our staff members are volunteer. No one receives payment for their services and time. The goal is to provide sports education to the Brooklyn community and give back to others. It is expected that all children attend practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, AND compete on weekends. We do not compete EVERY weekend, but we do compete often. Our schedule is posted before each season begins. This year’s schedules are still posted on our website, as an example. We are a competitive track team that offers all three seasons. We offer a local beginners program, as well as a travel team which has earned national recognition.
