8 Spruce Street near Williams St., New York City NY
Description
I play mainly bluegrass instrumentals and standards, newgrass, old time, celtic — a little Western swing, Django — but play a lot of fiddle tunes. Listen mainly to Chris Thile, Matt Flinner, Tony Rice, David Grisman, plus Bill Monroe, Del McCoury. Fan of Michael Daves locally. I know about 100 tunes at speed (another 50 somewhat slower) — the bluegrass instrumental canon plus vocal tunes like Sittin On Top of The World, Banks of the Ohio, Wayfaring Stranger, More Pretty Girls, etc. Looking for another like-minded mandolin player, or a flat picking guitarist, or both for a regular jam in Manhattan. Date flexible but would love a regular weekday evening. My place is available but will travel. Let me know your interest and your playing level — need to be substantially more than a beginner, know a bunch of the standards, play breaks and solos (*and fully vaccinated!). Let’s work on our repertoire, build speed, get better at improvising.
