Roanoke Medical Managers Meeting - July 2021 TOPIC: Narratives - The Stories We Tell Ourselves SPEAKER: Stewart Murr, Practice Manager, Advanced Arthritis & Rheumatology Care, P.C. What's it all about? Our culture loves stories. Just look at book sales, or the MCU for a succinct film example. Yet how comfortable and engaged are we in listening to, understanding and accepting without judgment the stories of other people? More importantly, how well do we understand our own personal stories? We will explore the stories we’ve learned within a handful of different fields of study to example how some stories stagnant, some become entrenched, some remain labeled as pseudo-science, while others flourish and mature. Opening and improving the growth of our own stories will in-turn improve our ability to listen to, understand and accept without judgment the stories of those with whom we work and live. We all have developing stories, and the sharing of them enriches all our lives.
