Build your own skateboard, paipo and/or paddle in the 5-day afternoon workshop Students will explore artisanal woodworking techniques to design and build their own skateboards, paipos and/or paddles. The workshop begins with lumber selection and layout taking into account strength, stability and beauty before gluing up. Once the blanks are glued up, students will design, trace and cut out their outline and use hand tools for shaping contours and concaves. Next step is sanding, adding artwork and a wipe-on finish. Everything will be ready to ride and use by week's end! Over the course of the workshop, students will learn safe use of traditional hand tools, construction techniques, wood shop etiquette and environmental responsibility.
