Join this workshop to learn the basics in character and set building, film work, and collaborating together to make a short film through clay stop-motion!  -- FAQs Do I have to register to come? Yes, you MUST register to come as playshops have a limited number of spots.  How do I register my child? Do I have to register to come? Register via our Eventbrite page (if you're reading this, then you're in the right spot), then print and fill out our Student Permission/Release Form, which is required. If you do not have a printer, we will have forms at the event that you will need to fill out before leaving your child with us. What do I need to bring to this playshop? Just bring your Student Permission/Release Form, or the information to complete it to the event if you don't have a printer at home. Can I register my child if they are not in the age group specified for this playshop? No. Please only register your child if they are in the age range or grades for which we have planned this playshop. We cannot make exceptions, even for children who are academically advanced or mature for their age.    Can I register my child if I am not certain they can attend?  No — please only register if you know you will be there. We often have a full waitlist for our playshops, and every vacant seat is a missed learning opportunity for another family. If your child becomes ill unexpectedly after registering or has to miss a playshop session due to an emergency, please contact [email protected].  As a parent, can I stay at this playshop with my child? No. Please help your child get settled and then leave them with our well-trained staff and volunteers. The exception is ages 0 to 5, when we usually ask that parents accompany their toddlers. Our Student Permission/Release Form has your contact information and we will contact you if there is a problem of any kind. Kendall Yards has many great shops and restaurants where you can hang out if you wish to stay close. When you pick up your child at the end-time, your son/daughter will show you the fabulous things they have created! If you want to participate in the playshop with your child, we suggest you sign up as a volunteer via Spark's website. After registering, you will be invited to a volunteer orientation and training. This process can take a few weeks, so plan accordingly. If you would rather attend a program with your child, please choose from one of the many drop-in and community events we offer at Spark Central. (Playshops are the only Spark Central programs for which we ask that you drop your child off.)  Can I sign up my child for a playshop if they don't want to come? No. Spark Central playshops have two rules: (1) Everyone wants to be here; (2) Everyone is compassionate toward others. Playshops are not a spot to drop off a child who does not want to participate. If a child is disrespectful, defiant, or harmful to others, you will be called to pick up your child. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? There is free two-hour parking behind the Spark Central in Kendall Yards. Free 90-minute street parking is also available. There is also a city bus stop available at the intersection of Summit and Monroe. Where can I contact the organizer with any questions or if I have to cancel? Contact [email protected] with questions or cancellations. Please let us know as soon as possible if you can't make it, as playshops often have waiting lists and we want to give every child who wants to be here a chance to participate if possible. Spark Central is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that ignites the creativity, innovation, and imagination necessary for people to forge the path to their best future. We break down barriers to creativity like cost, confidence, and access by offering transformative programs, access to innovative technology, and a welcoming creative community for people of all economic backgrounds. Everyone deserves the opportunity to forge the future they imagine. As a 501(c)3 charitable organization, we rely on the generosity of people like you to keep our membership and programs available at no cost so income is never a barrier to opportunity.
