Matt Johnson of Muletown Coffee hosts a special "Muletown in the Round" session with songwriting guests Gary Baker and Greg Barnhill. This round focuses on the "Muscle Shoals Sound" and will be hosted by music producer, songwriter, and storyteller, Matthew Craig Johnson. --- Matthew Craig Johnson's simple chords and melodies are intentionally and strategically crafted to support each tale he wants to tell. He prides himself a throwback to the singer-songwriters of the 1970's. He was born and raised in the Nashville area, but ended up chasing a girl down to Muscle Shoals, Alabama where he cut his teeth at Noiseblock Studios producing with some of the legendary songwriting and recording talent of the area. Most recently, Matt produced the album "Gentle Man" for Rory Feek in partnership with Ben Isaacs. In 1994, Gary Baker earned a Grammy Award for the multi-million selling song “I Swear.” Co-written with Frank J. Myers and first recorded by John Michael Montgomery, the song was later recorded by the hip harmony group All-4-One. Baker hit the crossover charts again in 2001 with “I’m Already There,” co-written with Myers and Richie McDonald, lead singer of Lonestar. A native of Niagara Falls, New York, Baker launched his recording career with Muscle Shoals’ famed LeBlanc and Carr band, performing on their Top 10 hit "Falling." Baker later became a member of Muscle Shoals’ hit country act, The Shooters. Baker has been honored by the Country Radio Music Awards, Country Music Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, American Songwriter Magazine, American Music Awards, NSAI, ASCAP, and the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. Gary Baker is also the owner of Noiseblock Studio in Florence, Alabama. Barnhill is one of Nashville’s first call master vocalists. His background vocals can be heard on many of Tim McGraw’s recent albums. Originally from New Orleans, Greg Barnhill has been writing and performing his entire life. Artists such as Etta James, Martina McBride, Jessica Simpson, Chicago, Leona Lewis, Tim McGraw as well as many others have sung his songs. His hit “Walkaway Joe,” was recorded by Trisha Yearwood and Don Henley and earned him a Grammy nomination. Barnhill also had a crossover smash with “House of Love” for Amy Grant and Vince Gill. He also garnered critical acclaim with the 2014 single, Gary Allan's "It Ain't The Whiskey," which received rave reviews for its perspective on substance abuse. Hope to see you there for another evening of songs, stories, and music. --- Doors open at 5:00 pm and the show starts at 6:00.
