Description
WAKEFIELD, MA — The fire department is looking to sell a 25-year-old engine to Malden after receiving a brand new pumper.
Fire Chief Michael Sullivan wrote in a memo to Town Administrator Stephen Maio he wants to sell the 1996 Seagrave fire engine — currently Wakefield's Engine 4 — to the Malden Fire Department for $3,000, "a fair price considering the age and condition."
To do that, Town Council must declare the engine surplus property. A vote is scheduled for Monday night.
Malden wants to use the old pumper as a spare engine until a new one being manufactured arrives.
"Engine 4's pump is in reasonably good condition considering its age and should serve Malden well as a spare pumper until it can take delivery of its new apparatus," Sullivan wrote.
