Please come help us raise money our dear friend and co-worker Amanda Watson. Amanda is 35 years old, a wife to Jarred, mom to four young children. Amanda was born and raised right here in Highlands County. Amanda has been a teacher with the School Board of Highlands County for the last 14 years. Amanda has taught elementary and middle school students and is currently the TRT at Avon and Memorial Elementary. Amanda was diagnosed with Metastatic Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (breast cancer) in May 2020 . This is a triple negative and pleomorphic cancer. She has had multiple doctors appointments, treatments, surgery and hospital stays at Moffitt in Tampa making it impossible for her to work during this time. She has recently learned that her cancer has now spread to her brain, liver and spine.  To help cover the unexpected expenses that cancer can bring, our school is  planning an exciting event: “Better Together- A Benefit Concert for Amanda Watson”. The Benefit will be held at Highlands Lakeside Theatre on Sunday, July 18, 2021. All of the proceeds will go directly to Amanda and her family. In order to make this event a true triumph, we need your help. We are requesting monetary donations that will go directly to the family as well as silent auction items for the night of the event. Our goal is to raise $10,000. With your financial support we can ensure that Amanda and her family will not have to worry about finances while going through this challenging time.
