Ikebana - the Japanese art of flower arranging
Join sculpture artist and floral designer Saree Silverman for a two hour Ikebana workshop. Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arranging. Characterized by a sculptural, minimalist aesthetic - branches, blossoms, leaves and blooms are used as materials for art making. The practice is a slow, meditative process where each element is carefully considered and placed with intention. During the workshop Saree will do a live demonstration where she will explain her intuitive yet thoughtful process, before each student gets to make his/her own. Students will leave with their own arrangement, ceramic vessel, and floral frog for continued practice at home.
