WATERFORD, CT — Waterford police are warning about solicitors going door to door who do not have the necessary permits. Police wrote on Facebook: "Please be aware that anyone soliciting door to door in Waterford needs to acquire a Solicitor Permit with the Town of Waterford through the Waterford Police Department. If someone is soliciting they should be wearing a badge issued by the Waterford Police Department and carrying a current, signed solicitor permit at all times. The badge should have a photograph of the person along with their name, company and date of expiration of the permit. "The badge and permit are signed by Chief Brett Mahoney and the badge has a photograph of the Town of Waterford seal and Waterford Police Department patch. "If a person soliciting door to door does not have a current identification badge and signed solicitor permit from the Waterford Police Department please contact the police and report the incident."
