SANTA CRUZ, CA — Notice a giant red ball lodged under the pier at Cowell's or smushed under the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History sign? The Instagram-worthy, 15-foot inflatable ball designed by artist Kurt Perschke was hosted at six locations across the county from Watsonville to Santa Cruz this month. Known as SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is offering an adoption deal when individuals adopt two kittens. All kittens aged four months and younger will be available for adoption at a discounted price now through July. The adoption fee includes spay and neutering, microchipping and registration, age-appropriate vaccinations, routine treatment for fleas and worms and a free pet wellness exam with a local participating veterinarian. The adoption deal is due to the increase in the number of cats and kittens at the shelter. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter has two locations. The first is at 2200 7th Ave. in Santa Cruz, and the other is at 580 Airport Blvd. in Watsonville. Copyright © 2021 Bay City News, Inc. All rights reserved. " target="_blank">the RedBall Project, the art installation has visited dozens of locales across three continents. "As RedBall travels around the world people approach me on the street with excited suggestions about where to put it in their city," Perschke said in a statement. "In that moment, the person is not a spectator but a participant in the act of imagination. I've witnessed this from people young and old, from diverse cultures, speaking hundreds of languages across continents, all naturally responding to RedBall's invitation. That invitation to engage, to collectively imagine, is the true essence of RedBall Project." The visit to Santa Cruz County was a highlight of RedBall's tour of the United States, Perschke told Patch in an email. "The response to the work in Santa Cruz County was fantastic," he told Patch in an email. "Every day we had wonderful interactions and conversations around RedBall." Upon a visit to Watsonville, he said, RedBall "even found itself in the famous potato line!" Did you miss the RedBall Project? Take a peek at some photos posted by visitors over the past week.
