By Editor, Times of San Diego June 28, 2021 San Diego County public health officials reported 96 new COVID-19 infections Sunday and no deaths from the disease. The county's total number of coronavirus cases since 2020 grew to 282,358. The death toll remained at 3,780. Of 6,500 tests reported by the county on Friday, 1.5% returned positive. The 14-day rolling average percentage of positive cases ticked up to 1%. Meanwhile, the number of fully vaccinated residents rose slightly, to almost 1.89 million, putting the county at 88.4% of the goal to vaccinate 2.1 million people ages 12 and older. Nationally, 46% of the nation is fully vaccinated, according to data compiled by the Mayo Clinic through Saturday. The county maintains a full list of available vaccination sites online, though the number of sites will shrink due to a drop in demand.
