WOODRIDGE, IL ā Police say drivers should avoid parts of Janes and Jonquil Avenues in Woodridge Monday to allow crews to continue cleaning up damage from the EF-3 tornado that devastated the area on Father's Day.
Drivers should steer clear of Janes Avenue between 75th Street and 83rd Street, police said in a Tweet Monday morning. Jonquil Avenue is also blocked at Woodridge as crews removed fallen trees.
The Father's Day tornado destroyed more than 630 homes in Woodridge and Naperville and severely hurt a pregnant Woodridge woman, causing her to lose her unborn baby.
As residents picked up the pieces in the wake of the storm's damage, hundreds of tornado victims got help at a multi-agency resource center in Woodridge Saturday and Sunday.
Yesterday we served 230 families & over 500 people impacted by the local tornado. We are back at the event today. We are running low on supplies. Our highest need is for backpacks & gift cards (restaurant, grocery, Target). Thank you for your support!https://t.co/5f2k0Qsb9Nā The Backpack Project (@packthekindness) June 27, 2021
