Description

LISLE, IL — A 60-year-old man died, and a 43-year-old man was badly hurt after they fell from a boom lift while they were washing windows in Lisle early Sunday. The incident took place just before 6:30 a.m. at 2300 block of Cabot Dr., Lisle Police Chief Ron Wilke told Patch via email Sunday afternoon. Wilke told Patch preliminary information shows the boom lift was parked on a parking garage while the men were washing windows on an adjacent building. Wilke said the lift's rear wheels broke through concrete of the parking garage, causing the men to fall. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where the 60-year-old died from his injuries. The 43-year-old man had been taken to the hospital's intensive care unit, but no update was available on his condition as of early Monday. The accident left a large hole in the concrete of the garage, Wilke told Patch. The adjacent building and garage were deemed unsafe and prohibited from use pending further evaluation and testing, Wilke said. The exact cause of the accident will be investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). This is a developing story; check Patch for updates.
