IDOT Releases Projected End Date For Arlington Heights Road Work

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced last week the ongoing resurfacing project on Arlington Heights Road is projected to be done by late fall. The project, which is part of the Rebuild Illinois program, began in early May and has required daily lane closures. Arlington Heights Road from Palatine to Higgins Roads will be re-paved, with added sidewalk ramps and pedestrian walk button posts by the time the project is done in late October. Gov. J.B. Pritzker's office also announced other roadwork projects that add up to about $66 million in infrastructure investment for the northern Cook County area. "These projects represent a significant investment in northern Cook County and are a big step forward in our work to improve safety, mobility and create economic opportunity for years to come," said Illinois Transportation Secretary Omer Osman in a news release. "We're asking drivers to be patient, slow down and pay extra attention driving in and around any work zone." In addition to roadwork in the suburbs, Rebuild Illinois earmarks $500 million to establish a passenger rail from Chicago to Rockford and the Quad Cities. The plan invests $33.2 billion overall into Illinois' roads, bridges, waterways, railways and pedestrian accommodations. For more information on IDOT projects, click here.
