Description
I have a few mountain bikes and I can't keep up with the recommended service. Given that bikes are impossible to buy, I want to be damn sure that I don't wear out pivots, bearings, shocks etc...
I ride here in Tahoe a lot--sometimes gravity assist (lifts, shuttles, etc..) which speeds up parts destruction.
Bike shops are terminally behind saying their 30 days out on scheduling service. Clearly they're not charging enough for labor (or not investing enough in that side of the business)--frustrating since retail side is a dying part of the industry given race-to-the-bottom internet pricing and now with supply chain f*ckery. Service is something that should be more available and possibly more of a premium since clearly there's an overwhelming demand.
I'm looking for an experienced mechanic to come to my house to do things like:
- pivot service: clean and possibly replace bearings
- dropper service
- shock service (seals and fluids)
- brake bleeds
...you know, the slightly more skilled stuff
I have a bench, bench-mounted bike stand, a vise, full park tool hex set, torque set with torx and hex, wrenches, and I'm willing to buy more tools. (bearing puller/press on the way.)
I'm somewhat handy and would like to learn some of this stuff too.
Name your hourly rate and I'll 2.5x it or make a bid or something--I'm reasonable.
I've used this site for a long time and I'm very familiar with all your dumass scams. I'm not going to give out my address unless I can tell you're a mechanic and not some nudnick trying to harvest emails and other personal data. For the real people, do me a favor and write more than a sentence--doesn't have to be an opus, but I gotta distinguish you from the scammers. Bonus points if you actually ride yourself and have worked at a shop I know of.
