A Jam Band But More Can/Sonic Youth Than The Dead/Phish

Guitarist looking to get the ball rolling on forming a band focused on jamming out, improvising, sonic exploration, etc, but aesthetically more leaning into 'indie' or punkish sounds rather than what we usually call 'jam bands' - ie grateful dead, phish, cheese, etc. I hope that makes sense. I'm trying to be both specific and nonspecific here on purpose. About me: playing guitar for 30 years so I'm old but not really. I make up for it by a lifelong commitment to immaturity. I know a bit of 'music theory' but there are few things I care less about regarding music. I just like to make cool sounds and I'm looking for likeminded people with similar aesthetic leanings to jam with a bit and maybe develop those jams into a band that actually has songs, plays gigs, and releases music that hopefully other people want to listen to.
