Description
Do you know these names? Tiny Grimes, Bill Jennings, Mickey Baker, T-Bone Walker, Nick Curran, Junior Watson, EARLY BB King (no Thrill is Gone), Kid Ramos, Hollywood Fats, Little Charlie and the Nightcats, Jimmie Vaughan, Duke Robillard... Yes? AWESOME! No? Take a listen and let's talk!
I've been wanting to put together a real-deal West Coast/Jump Blues band for almost 20 years now and it's time. This is not your SRV, Eric Clapton etc etc blues band. Nothing wrong with them (it's where I got my start!) but I want something more dynamic, more nuanced and something that SWINGS.
Right now look at all instrumental to get moving. Drums and bass first love some keys and horns (tenor and bari sax)
This is not an easy sub-genre to get right and a lot of folks don't even know the purveyors of it and that is what's fun. It is different! This wouldn't be some bar band blues outfit with the instruments fighting each other. Think swing, jazz, even some Western swing and classic 40's to 60's rhythm and blues. We'll play great, look great and have a lot of fun on the stage. Posted below are some links to a Spotify playlist and a YouTube playlist to get your toe dipped in the water.
