Position Title: Gardening technician Department: Landscape Gardening Reports To: Lead gardener and CEO/owner Experience: 1-2 years of landscape maintenance necessary Seasonal Commitment: 40 Hrs. / Week, March-Dec. During the Spring/Fall Season we work Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Summer Season, Monday-Thursday, 10-hour days (7:30am-6:00pm), w/ Friday’s off or available for catch-up work if the schedule requires due to weather challenges. Position Purpose/Description: As a gardener you will work on a crew of 2-3 people under the supervision of a lead gardener. As a team you will provide the highest level of customer service to our clients by performing the physical duties of professional gardening. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities: • Excellent attention to detail while performing tasks at a rigorous pace • Ability to problem solve and make sound decisions relating to service excellence, safety, team success and productivity • Completing daily property notes at a high standard and communicating urgent needs promptly • Hand Weeding • Hand pruning of perennials and shrubs to encourage healthy growth and structure • Deadheading • Garden bed watering and feeding of plants and maintaining appropriate mulch levels • Proper plant installation • Minor drip irrigation repair & adjustments • Spring and Fall property clean ups • Provide friendly & professional customer service Team Member Expectations: • We value our talented team. Gardeners must be team players and practice our values including respect, positivity, open communication, and shared responsibility • Our team members need to be dependable, and on-time. • Must have reliable transportation to and from the shop and a reliable form of communication. • Severe or unexpected seasonal weather can dramatically affect landscaping work. Team members must be flexible with route/task and work-day rescheduling. Our managers strive to communicate promptly with team members when weather requires changes to schedules. • Ability to safely and effectively operate small power equipment such as string trimmers, backpack blowers, hedge trimmers, gardening hand tools...we will train you! • Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs and 75 lbs with assistance and safely bend, stoop, kneel, lift, pull, push, squat and stand for long periods of time • Must be able to work outdoors up to 10 hours per day in various weather conditions • Ability to use mobile apps for accurate timekeeping and property notes • Experience and knowledge of: proper gardening and pruning techniques, tool cleaning and maintenance, plant & bed care maintenance, Colorado weed/invasive plant ID, Colorado plant ID & diagnosis, pest ID (a plus!) Required Licenses or Certifications: • Valid CO Driver's License and insurable by insurance carriers. The ideal candidate for this position is reliable, works well with others and pays a lot of attention to the details. A background in horticulture is helpful but not required. The focus of this position is high levels of work, a great attitude and great customer care. This is a Seasonal, Full Time position (March 1st-October 31st) with Holiday lighting through November 30th.
