Arrow Glass Industries, a residential, multifamily, and commercial glass company, is looking for a Mechanic's Helper/Driver. The ideal candidate will assist with repairs and preventative maintenance on company’s vehicles and equipment, performs maintenance and custodial services in the shop; and routinely handles routed deliveries as assigned. High school graduation, or its equivalent, or sufficient education to read and write, and experience in mechanical repair work, preferably at least six months of experience working with or for a mechanic; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A Valid Class B Texas Driver’s License is required. Plus(s): Bilingual (Spanish), able to tow trailers. Full-time hourly position. Mon-Fri, 7am - 4pm (1hr lunch). Starting Pay: $15-$17/hr DOE Serious inquiries need only apply. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Assisting mechanic with repairing vehicles and equipment Cleaning and maintaining shop equipment and tools Maintaining and monitoring parts and fluid inventories Performing minor equipment repairs in the field Maintaining shop in a clean and orderly manner Be able to operate various hand tools, including spray gun, sander, grinder, grease gun, hydraulic jack, welding tools, etc. Checks batteries and fluid levels in equipment and replaces or replenishes as needed. Perform lubrication and related maintenance. Repair flat tires or takes vehicles to proper shop. Pick up supplies and parts from vendors or suppliers as necessary. Routinely goes out on deliveries for company’s core business. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to walk, sit, stand, bend and stoop. May be required to lift, carry or push/pull supplies, materials, equipment and/or items weighing up to 50 pounds. Work is primarily conducted indoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Knowledge of: automotive and equipment bodywork and repairs; and the safe operation of the equipment used. Skill/Ability: perform a variety of minor mechanical repairs or preventive maintenance on company vehicles and equipment using a variety of power and hand tools; and maintain Texas driver’s license applicable to job responsibilities and good driving record.
