Sweetland: Stories from the Pass is a dinner series where curious eaters come to explore the histories behind familiar ingredients!
Your guides for the evening are self-taught cook and voracious learner Steve Ali, and your favorite barista, Connor Thornton. Together they'll chase foodways to their origins and ideas to their conclusions, to make new homages to old traditions.
Not all histories are easy to stomach though. You'll also learn about the ways that colonization and inequality have influenced the cuisines we enjoy today. But along with the heavy stuff, you'll hold a glass of something light, to balance the sour things in life with the sweet.
Come ready to listen and learn, but also bring questions to ask, and your own story to tell-- and of course, come ready to eat!
