Description
An elegant afternoon tea reception in Victorian costume. Contemporaneous with Galveston’s Dickens on the Strand, the Palmers and the Wiggses host an elegant , multi course, afternoon tea reception in Victorian costume. It takes place at the historic Lasker Inn, which will be beautifully decorated for the holidays. We present an afternoon semi-formal event with Victorian sensibilities (suits and dresses with shoulders and knees covered please!). We encourage you to join in the fun by wearing a period costume. Because this event is in a confined space, and mask wearing is not practical while eating, we request that all attendees are vaccinated against COVID-19. We also reserve the right to request a recent negative COVID test to ensure protection of others. As the situation changes and we get closer to the event, our policy may change in accordance with CDC recommendations. This event is not appropriate for children under 12. We welcome mature young people 12 and over, but are unable to offer discounted seats. Please contact your hostess, Cheryl, if you have any questions about our event. We are prepared to accommodate food allergies or dietary requests, so please let us know in advance . A menu will be presented as we get closer to the event. We endeavor to make every guest feel welcome!! After a career in the oil industry (which included event planning for world class executives), Cheryl changed focus and began designing and making historical costumes. After a few years, it seemed that some more events were needed in order to wear these costumes. Cheryl (in conjunction with friends) has hosted various events, including a 100th anniversary of the Titanic voyage, a picnic on the lawn in Versailles, and a post-Ascot soiree in London. After a 2020 pandemic hiatus, 2021 will mark the fifth year co-hosting the Grand Victorian Tea Reception during Dickens.
