Have you ever wanted to learn African Dance. Come to our Beginners African Dance class. Jam Ak Jam is an African Dance collaborative working to infuse community health with African traditions.  Formed in early 2020, Jam Ak Jam seeks to use community engagement within people of African descent to build healthy lifestyles and learn African traditions through dance, drumming, and oral history.    Bashir Shakur is a Master drummer that has played with Baba Chuck Davis and the African American Dance Ensemble and has been an artist-in-residence and/or faculty member at many Institution’s including: New York University Steinhart School of Education, Florida State University, Florida A&M University, Guilford College, American Dance Festival, Future Leaders Institute, Williams College and The Brooklyn Music School. In 2007 Shakur released his first solo album entitled “Steady Hands”.   In addition to her history dancing with the NCCU Dance Group where she first learned African Dance, and participating in local African Dance Classes and local performances, Tonya Stancil is a Community Engagement Specialist and Community Health Educator, She holds her BA in Psychology, BS in Chemistry. MMS in Physician Assistant Studies. a Masters of Public Health and a Masters of Business Administration.
