"It was a very labor intensive effort at the overnight 4 alarm fire on Mix Ave.," Hamden Fire Chief Gary Merwede wrote in a post on Twitter. "I couldn't be more proud of the leadership of our Fire Officers and hard work of our Firefighters. I'm also grateful for our mutual aid partners."
One of the challenges during suppression is unseen fire running above the ceilings and crews at work below. Sheetrock must be pulled to expose and extinguish the fire. #Hamden #Firefighters (925 Mix) pic.twitter.com/nx9zhZXbQj— Chief Gary Merwede (@hfdcar1) June 27, 2021 So very thankful to the @HamdenFireDept for their extraordinary work at the apartment fire on Mix Avenue in the early hours of the day. Their work, along with other Departments who came to provide selfless support, helped make a lot of Hamdenites safe.
