DARIEN, IL — Darien saw two new coronavirus cases in the last week, according to the DuPage County Health Department. As of Sunday, Darien had a total of 1,768 coronavirus cases, a 0.1 percent increase from the week before. The previous week, the city experienced three new cases. The city's number of coronavirus deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 22. That works out to less than a thousandth of Darien's population. The number of those who have recovered is unavailable. As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,390,432, up 0.1 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,199. Nationally, 33.3 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 0.3 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 601,221 people have died from the virus in the United States.
