Unplug from your busy life and connect with yourself, each other and the natural world. Join us for Art in the Garden and enjoy the simplicities of an art-full life; creativity, community and cuisine. Experience the good life through an outdoor (plein-air) guided watercolor class with artist and integrative leadership coach, Annelies M. Gentile of Conduit for Change who will walk you through finding inspiration in nature, teach basic painting techniques and about the creative process and how it relates to life and stress-reduction. This will be followed by a light-n-tasty vegetarian farm-to-table picnic lunch (with a gluten-free option) straight from one of Raleigh's best-kept secrets, the Well Fed Community Garden (in collaboration with Sweet Peas Urban Gardens). This is where life and learning merge with nature and creativity. Walk away refreshed, rejuvenated and well-fed from the inside-out! NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED. SEASONED ARTISTS & CURIOUS CREATIVES WELCOME! A little (or a lot) intimidated by creativity? Don't be, just come as you are. Allow the magic of the moment to take you on a journey that will feed your heart, soul and tummy! :)Watercolor kit is provided or bring your own favorite creativity supplies oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencils, camera OR iPad for digital painting canvas, easel or small table (small lap board will be provided) a basic watercolor kit will be available to use if you don't have your own supplies This event will be held outdoors - rain or shine! We produce organic microgreens, baby leafy greens, edible flowers and mushrooms in compact urban and peri-urban indoor spaces. Owned and operated by women and minorities, the Business recognizes that accelerating forces of climate change and environmental costs of industrial farming have diminished the extent and productivity of arable land, and pose unprecedented environmental, economic and health risks. Globalization and delocalization of existing food supply chains are unable to adequately respond to concerns about the net carbon footprint, diminishing nutrition, and health safety concerns of industrially produced food. The social, environmental and economic costs of industrial farming are borne by taxpayers and consumers, making existing food systems unsustainable. Increasing public awareness of these problems has dramatically increased demand for foods produced and distributed by alternative food systems. Sweet Peas is proud to partner with the Well Fed Community Garden in 2020 in an effort to continue the mission of growing organic fruites and vegetables for our neighbors and the Raleigh community at large.
