ED-TACULAR, a jubilant celebration featuring the music of Ed Ackerson performed by an all-star cast of bandmates and friends, ON ED'S BIRTHDAY! Ed always loved the annual "Sussed-tacular" concerts that showcased Ed's newest music and that of his always widening circle of new and old friends. ED-TACULAR is meant to continue this tradition of bringing together the Twin Cities community through the joy of music with performances by: Kraig Jarret Johnson & The Program - Ed was a charter member of the Program, fronted by the always enthralling Kraig Johnson of Run Westy Run / Iffy / Golden Smog / Jayhawks fame. The self-titled Program album from 2003 - produced and recorded by Ed - was one of the best local releases of the 2000s and The Program's legendary live performances left a mark on audiences that is still fondly remembered. For this very special occasion, Kraig & friends are guaranteed to deliver the goods. BNLX - Ed and Ashley Ackerson formed BNLX in 2010, an electro-punk duo that initially shocked audiences with an uncompromisingly intense audio and visual assault that took no prisoners. In less than a decade, BNLX released 2 full length albums and a dozen EPs that displayed an astonishing sonic palette combined with polemical lyrics, astute social commentary and aggressively subversive promotional communication. Polara - Ed's best known band, Polara were dream pop pioneers who thrilled audiences in the 90s and 00s with their technicolor soundscapes and brilliant albums. Their landmark debut album in 1995 - recently reissued on vinyl for the first time - is one of the most stunning debut albums in Minnesota history and earned them a well-deserved major label contract and wide renown. 27 Various - The Various burst on the scene in the late 80s and wowed fans and critics alike with their eclectic output, ranging from whimsical 60s Britpop to full blown shoegaze. Over five albums and countless live shows, The Various made music that still sounds ahead of its time 30 years later. For this celebration, the BNLX, Polara and 27 Various lineups will consist of original band members and close musical partners of Ed's who will breathe new life into some of the best music the Twin Cities has ever produced.
