AUSTIN, TX — Waterloo Park, an 11-acre park located east of the state capitol, will officially open to the public in August, officials announced Wednesday. The Waterloo Greenway Conservancy, the nonprofit organization that maintains the parks around Waller Creek, said the park will open on August 14. The park will open with a community day that will offer free family-friendly activities. Waterloo Park has been under construction since 2017, officials said. The opening of Waterloo Park marks the completion of Phase One of the full Waterloo Greenway park system, which will stretch from 15th Street to Lady Bird Lake and include a wide array of natural and cultural destinations. "The grand opening of Waterloo Park is a tremendous milestone for the entire Austin community. This park is the result of years of hard work and dedication from our City partners, project team, donors, board members and many others who share our goal of reviving Waller Creek for the benefit of all," said Kathy Miller, Interim CEO of Waterloo Greenway. Officials said C3 Presents and Live Nation will be announcing concerts "in the coming weeks" from local, national and international touring acts at the amphitheater. Live Nation and C3 will offer 100 free tickets to each concert at the amphitheater, made available through a lottery. Tickets are now on sale and available at Ticketmaster.com.
