LOS ANGELES, CA — A passenger on a plane reportedly pounded on a cockpit door before leaping from the aircraft while it was still on the runway at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday, authorities said. The man, who was not named, sustained unspecified injuries and was being treated at a hospital, officials said. The FBI was investigating the incident at the Southern California airport on Saturday. The incident was reported shortly after 7 p.m. on Friday on a Skywest flight 5365, which was scheduled to fly to Salt Lake City, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said. "The flight crew reported that a passenger got up from his seat as the plane taxied toward the runway. The passenger pounded on the cockpit door and ultimately exited the plane through an emergency door, landing on the pavement," she said. "The FBI is continuing to investigate the incident with airport partners." No one else was injured in the incident and the plane was able to taxi back to its gate, officials said. "We might have had a passenger that was a threat level jump out of the aircraft," the pilot said to air traffic control during the incident, according to ABC7. The incident marks the second security breach at LAX in two days. On Thursday, a man was taken into custody at the airport after plowing his car through a fence and onto a runway, leading police on a brief pursuit. The City News Service contributed to this report.
