Increase of 0.5% – still lowest in the State among its rankings
The unemployment rate for the City of Mentor increases 0.5% to 4.0% for the month of May 2021. One year ago, the unemployment rate was 13.9%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate increases 0.5% as well to 4.4% for the month of May; one year ago, it was 15.0%.
Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, the City of Mentor's 4.0% unemployment rate is the lowest and Lakewood has the second lowest rate at 4.4%. Kettering is third with 4.5%, followed by Cuyahoga Falls at fourth with 5.0%. The City's civilian labor force decreased to 25,800.
The State of Ohio's unemployment rate increased 0.2% to 5.0% for the month of May 2021.
