Press release from Pima County: June 25, 2021 The Pima County Board of Supervisors approved funding of $3,834,420 in Outside Agency grants for the 2021-22 fiscal year, which begins July 1. The Outside Agency Program provides financial support to nonprofit community agencies that collaborate with the County to provide public-service assistance for economic development, health and social services. The program targets economically disadvantaged and other at-risk populations, and specifically assures that support is provided to meet basic needs and services in rural areas. "The Outside Agency Program demonstrates Pima County's ability to build capacity and strengthen nonprofit partners in order to provide essential community services," said Daniel Sullivan, Pima County's Community & Workforce Development director. Outside Agency funding by category: Community Services — $408,775Emergency Food and Clothing — $744,045Senior Support Services — $185,740Support Services, Shelter and Domestic Violence — $421,385Youth, Young Adult and Family Support — $644,905General services — $958,910An additional $470,660 was set aside for County departments managing Outside Agency programs with other sources, including the Pima Association of Governments. The largest beneficiary was the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, which will receive $438,580 for four programs, including $325,000 for emergency food assistance. Overall, Outside Agency funding was increased by nearly 5% – roughly $170,000 – compared with the 2020-21 fiscal year. The Outside Agency Citizen Review Committee is comprised of six members who are appointed by each supervisor and the county administrator to serve as their representatives. The Outside Agency Program is part of the County's Department of Community & Workforce Development, which is a single point of contact for wide-ranging assistance and service programs.
