All living expenses including rent, utilities and food are included. This is a live-in opportunity, where we would be sharing my 2-bedroom loft apartment. (Google "The Lofts at Wamsutta Mills in New Bedford" for the location) I am a 41-year old easy-going, musical and often goofy male, paralyzed in 2016 from the chest line down. I am looking to hire a live-in roommate, companion & assistant. You do not need to have a medical or nursing background. The right candidate will be fully trained. The job is not complicated and will require: (.) An encouraging attitude and energy to help motivate me to gain as much independence as possible as a paraplegic, to push forward and remain positive. (.) Upkeep of the apartment including cleaning, organization, coordinating repairs, healthy cooking, grocery shopping, laundry and maintaining stock of medical supplies. Basically things I'm unable to or still learning to accomplish because of my injury. (.) Personal care, which might include bedside body wash in the event of bowel or bladder incontinence accident. This is extremely rare, but is a possibility. Inspecting my body for any skin wounds or pressure sores. I might sometimes need assistance with getting dressed depending on my physical condition, but I am usually independent. (.) Help to keep me organized. Good memory and organizational skills are a must. (.) Occasionally driving to appointments and running random errands such as return shipping of online packages, etc. (.) Light physical therapy; assistance with stretching and exercises. (.) Ability to lift up to 40 pounds to load my manual wheelchair into the car. (.) Helping me with my mission to wean off of taking conventional medication. (.) The job does not require 24/7 monitoring or babysitting. We will create a schedule that works for the both of us and make sure that there will be a backup to fill in for you so that you can take time off. You are welcome to study or potentially even work from home, as long as all the necessities are covered. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, intelligent, clean, without any illegal drug addictions, with a sense of responsibility, good organization skills and attention to detail. Prior to being offered the job, the selected candidates will undergo a CORI criminal background check and priority will be given to those who are willing to share their creditworthiness (i.e. Credit Karma score etc).
