Sellwood - Milwaukie : Jazz - Rock Guitarist Looking to Stert Band

New guitarist to town, looking for musicians in the Sellwood/Milwaukie area to start a improv based jazz and/or jam band with. The plan is to start with woodsheding material for a few months and then start looking for gigs as more venues open up post-COVID. I am open to most instruments - finding the right people for a 3-5 piece band is the goal. Drums, percussion, bass, keyboards, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, mandolin, violin and more would work well here. Looking for local players in Portland. Honestly, it would be easier if you were in the Sellwood area or within 30 minutes since we will be practicing here and the first targeted venues are in this area. It is great to play with talented local players, but I am hoping to find local musicians who are open to building chops with weekly rehearsals and regular gigs- not looking for just ‘hired guns’ to show up on gig nights. - Band Influences: Classic Modal Jazz (Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corera, Dave Brubeck..many others) - Guitar Influences: George Benson, Wes Montgomery, B.B. King, Jerry Garcia, Carlos Santana, John McLaughlin, Steve Kimock, John Scofield * I am vaccinated at this point. Prefer players who also are or are at least willing to wear a mask.
