Pejepscot History Center's popular Summer Walking Tour series - Harpswell’s Auburn Colony, led by Ed Phinney (PHC members only). For years, Pejepscot History Center walking tours have offered stories of the past, perspective on the landscape, social time, and exercise to participants. Harpswell’s Auburn Colony, led by Ed Phinney (PHC members only) We close the season with a rare treat, a guided walk of the historic Auburn Colony off Harpswell Neck Road by a guaranteed-charming host, longtime Harpwell seasonal resident (since he was a baby!) Ed Phinney. This 19th century colony, created by multiple families from Auburn, Maine, who wanted a summer escape to call their own, still serves descendants of those families. A fire destroyed many of the original cottages, but a number were rebuilt. The tour includes sites rarely seen by the general public–a communal dining hall and kitchen and recreation areas among them. You will think you’ve traveled back in time! Please note that this tour begins at at Auburn Colony Drive, Harpswell Neck Road, Harpswell, Maine. Please check-in with tour leader at least 10 minutes prior to tour time. THIS TOUR IS OPEN TO PHC MEMBERS ONLY. Space is limited. PHC maintains a waiting list for each tour in case of cancellations.
