Description

Pejepscot History Center's popular Summer Walking Tour series - Opera, Nuns, & Bodybuilders: The Wild & Wonderful History of Oak Street. For years, Pejepscot History Center walking tours have offered stories of the past, perspective on the landscape, social time, and exercise to participants. Of the 12 tours this June-September, a whopping 8 are brand new or heavily revised. Please visit https://pejepscothistorical.org/events/summer-walking-tours for full descriptions of all tours. Opera, Nuns, & Bodybuilders: The Wild & Wonderful History of Oak Street, led by Lin Maria-Riotto This was one of our most raved about walking tours of 2019, new that year. Since we didn’t run it in 2020, Lin had lots more time to discover more fascinating tidbits about her street of residence. Dare we say there have been more colorful characters on Oak Street over its history than most other streets in town? We just might! Knowing Lin and her friendly neighbors, you might even stop and hear a personal story or two. Please note that this tour begins at the corner of Union and Oak Streets. Participants meet at starting point. Please check-in with tour leader at least 10 minutes prior to tour time. Space is limited. PHC maintains a waiting list for each tour in case of cancellations. Most tours are 75-90 minutes. Pejepscot History Center is a non-profit, educational organization charged with preserving the collective heritage of Brunswick, Harpswell, and Topsham. The Society owns and operates the Joshua L. Chamberlain House Museum and the Skolfield-Whittier House, both of which are open to the public Memorial Day-Columbus Day. For further information please call the Center at 207.729.6606 or find us at www.pejepscothistorical.org.
