Want an eco-conscious and attractive way to make your clothes last longer? Learn about visible mending in this 2-hour class. Visible MendingSaturday, July 31, 10am-12pm Instructor: Karen Anderson $30 No materials fee Skill level: Beginner Class limit: 8 Repairing your own clothing will save money and the environment. Visible mending is a creative way to make your favorite garments last longer. Fast fashion takes a huge toll on factory workers in developing countries as well as the environment. Americans buy and discard clothes at an alarming rate and learning a few basic mending techniques cam slow down our consumption. Plus...it's fun! Students should bring a pair of scissors and clothes that need a patch – small holes, large holes – whatever you've got! The clothes can be knit or woven and of any fabric. The instructor will supply needles, threads, and fabrics for patches. Questions about this class? Contact the instructor, Karen Anderson. Problems registering? Email the Education Committee. The Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati, Inc. was created in 1948 as a non-profit educational organization to promote interest in handweaving. Today, the Guild offers education in a wide range of fiber processes and techniques, including weaving, felting, spinning, basketry, knitting, and dyeing. Guild members are from the Cincinnati metropolitan area and surrounding communities, as well as from Kentucky and Indiana. Members range in experience from beginners to professionals. All benefit from the Guild's priorities: education through classes, workshops, programs, study groups; sharing information and fiber techniques with other members and community groups; and promoting and supporting local fiber producers and businesses. After 50 years of meeting in various churches throughout Greater Cincinnati, the Guild has its own home at 4870 Gray Road in Spring Grove Village.
