This one-day course will provide the opportunity to review the basics of size up, incident action planning, and critical fireground factors.
Students will be examining tactical templates for different types of buildings and be provided an opportunity to practice multiple tactical size-up scenarios through simulations (Sets & Reps).
• Define size-up and functions of command.
• Establish an effective incident organization defining the activities and responsibilities for the IC and the ICS.
• Provide a system to process information and support incident management, planning and decision making.
• Provide for efficient communication using standardized terminology.
• Understand and apply the accountability system.
• Understand and identify critical fire ground factors.
• Ensure IC command and control, safety is established from the onset of the incident.
• Provide a system for orderly transfer of Command to subsequent arriving officers
• Develop an incident action plan (IAP), match appropriate strategy.
• Practice simulated size-up scenarios.
• Develop IC critical thinking and decision making
