HAMDEN, CT — A Waterbury man is accused of pushing and punching a Home Depot security officer while trying to steal more than $660 worth of items earlier this year, according to police. Hamden police responded to The Home Depot at 1873 Dixwell Ave. on April 25 on the report of a theft, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Smith said an investigation found that Brian Davis and a woman tried to steal merchandise that was valued at $663. A loss prevention officer confronted Davis as he was leaving the store and Davis "pushed and punched" the store employee, according to Smith. Davis and the woman left the area in a vehicle. They stole a pressure washer that was valued at $450, Smith said. Officer Derick Manning conducted the investigation that led to an arrest warrant for Davis. Davis, 53, of Middlesex Street, was charged with third-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond with a court date of July 16.
