EASTON, MD — A small plane crashed Thursday morning in Easton, authorities said. A Maryland State Police Aviation Command helicopter flew the injured pilot to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, an incident report noted. Troopers added that the crash happened around 11:15 a.m. in a field near Easton Airport, located in the 29000 block of Newnam Road. The pilot was removed from the cockpit before the Trident Air single-engine plane "became fully engulfed in flames," the press release mentioned. Police explained that the National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the cause of the crash.
