Cops Seek 'Persons Of Interest' In Clash At Middle East Protests

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police are asking the public for help identifying three "persons of interest" in the ongoing investigation into clashes that broke out at Middle East rallies in the city in late May. Related: Unrest Shakes Middle East Rallies In Naperville During the May 23 rallies, Naperville police responded to reports of "isolated incidents" that included "verbal altercations" and people "pounding on someone's car on the street," Naperville Police Department Commander Michaus Williams told Patch in May. Police were also investigating a report of a rock being thrown at a car. Following the rallies, a video circulated on social media that appeared to show a group of pro-Palestinian protesters grabbing an Israeli flag and trying to set it on fire. As of Friday, Williams declined to offer details about why the "persons of interest" are being sought. He cited the ongoing investigation. A reward of up to $1,000 is also being offered by Naperville Crime Stoppers for information that leads to an arrest in connection with the May 23 incidents.
