Description
NAPERVILLE, IL — A man was shot in the chest in what police say was a "targeted" shooting in the 2700 block of Sheridan Court in Naperville just before 2 p.m. Friday. Shortly after, a suspect was taken into custody in Plainfield after a short chase.
Police say witnesses at the scene gave them the suspect's name and a description of their vehicle. Shortly after, the car was spotted and stopped in Plainfield near 119th Street and Route 59. A short chase ensued, according to police, and the suspect was pulled over and taken into custody near 135th Street and Route 59 in Plainfield.
The man who was shot in the chest was taken to a local hospital; police did not have an update about his condition as of 3 p.m. Friday. Police say they believe the incident was a "targeted act." They do not believe there is a threat to the community.
Naperville Police Department spokesperson Commander Michaus Williams declined to offer additional details in the immediate aftermath of Friday's shooting incident. Williams said more information is forthcoming.
