LISLE, IL — Lisle police are planning to crack down on impaired driving and seatbelt violations ahead of and including Fourth of July weekend. The campaign involves increased patrols from June 17 through July 6. Motorists are advised to buckle their seatbelts, avoid distracted driving and designate a sober driver. Police also recommend: Giving a designated driver your keys at the start of your celebrationCalling a cab or ride-share service, taking public transportation or arranging a ride if you have been drinking or using marijuana or other substancesPulling over and calling 911 if you see someone who is driving drunk or may be under the influence"We want all our residents and visitors to have an enjoyable and safe holiday," Lisle Police Chief Ron Wilke said in a news release. Wilke added, "Remember – if you're going to drink or use other impairing substances, don't drive. We will be stepping up patrols to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure everyone makes it home from their celebrations." Lisle Police Department's Fourth of July crackdown is part of the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.
